Draw line on a map

Is there any way I can draw a progressive line on a map

I’m not sure what you mean

By a map, do you mean you have an image, such as a JPEG or PNG that represents a terrain map or something similar? If yes, then gwenview has an Annotate tool which includes the ability to draw freehand lines on the image. Various other drawing tools, such as gimp, have similar tools.

If you have a a GIS file such as a GPKG, there is the opensource QGIS which can be used to layer on annotations, lines, and other data visualizations. QGIS has a very steep learning curve, with some aspects of the UI being quite obscure. Asking AI’s such as Deepseek or Gemini for help can considerably shorten the learning process, but if you have no understanding of GIS it’s can still be a very frustrating.

But perhaps you mean map as in hashmap? But it’s difficult to read that into what you wrote, so I’m guessing not :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi, thanks for the replies, yes it’s a street map and I was hoping to draw a line gradually between 2 points as a telephone rang. It was to illustrate the distance between the two people taking part in the conversation. I’d hoped I could do it all in Kdenlive but it looks like I’ll need to use an additional app. Ta
