Edit the login screen

Using Plasma 6.5.7 with OpenSuse Tumbleweed 20260910, how can I change the date/time formats as well as the greeting text of the SDDM login screen (KDE-Story-Dark)? I can edit the related qml files but am not able to save them afterwards although beeing logged in as root.

settings > SDDM is where you can customize the login screen… most of the changes will come from choosing a different theme.

there is also an option to apply plasma themes which brings up a dialog you can read to understand what it will do

editing files manually is not recommended and may result in not being able to log in.

Thanks for your reply! Change the theme or keep it in English seem the best ways to solve the issue.

if you choose your preferred language for plasma, then everything should appear in that language, including the SDDM screen.

at least if you are using breeze … using a 3rd party theme may or may not have translations for all the languages (up to the developer).

Maybe go into /usr/share/sddm/themes/KDE-Story-Dark/ and then look for a config file. Hope this helps.

Hi,

thanks a lot, it worked. Obviously, I had picked the wrong config file.
