That looks as if there is an incomplete translation or translation package installed.
Essentially the program will take the English text, pass it to a translation function and display what it gets back.
To see the English text means the function couldn’t find the German translation which usually means the translation database is incomplete.
Sometimes this happens on fast moving distributions, i.e. a “version” mismatch between applications and translations.
It can be a bug in the application, e.g. a developer having forgotten to pass the text to the translation function. Just not as often as the other cause
Thanks for the reply. It started off strangely when I installed Fedora – it froze at 63% and then started behaving strangely. I figured there was something wrong with it. I think I need to reinstall Fedora!
