I have a folder included in the “File Search > Locations”
~/garry
I have this folder excluded
~/garry/susan
the sub directories of susan appear in my search results.
I have baloo turned on and have purged and re-indexed.
Is this expected? Do I have to add the 5000 sub-folders of “susan” to the “exclude” list?
I’m using “file names only”
results appear in Application Launcher search.
I’d like there to be a .nofollow or robots.txt type thing per folder.
what about changing the ownership somehow?
and then I launch the apps that use these folders with that user?
perhaps I could move them outside of the user folder, from /home/user/garry to actual /home/garry and then symlink the folder back to where I want to store it.
Perhaps a bug? This is not the expected behavior, for sure.
I do this myself, excluding a number of subdirectories from search, and have done so for many years, with no issue like this.
cheers. well it’s good to know it isn’t supposed to be like this.
can confirm, just added a new folder to my indexing list and included a subfolder within as “not indexed” to exclude it from being indexed.
then let baloo index the new folder additions and even rebooted.
balooshow
indicates that while files from the added folder are now indexed, the files within the excluded folder were not " No index information found"
now i added them both at the same time, so is it possible you added garry, then hit apply before you went back to exclude susan?
in the time it would take to do that, baloo could have already completely indexed garry (including susan) and so you would need to purge again an rebuild the entire index with those settings.
