Fast forward reading: bettering accuracy

Hi everyone,

I wanted to suggest an improvement in “fast forward reading” : bettering accuracy and reliability of settings.

I have carried out a few measurements to check this functionality of my Kdenlive appimage (version kdenlive-24.12.1-x86_64) (which has remained stable in time, in this respect, compared to earlier versions).

The fast foward functionality displays the following characteristics:

A) in the Clip monitor

  • the 1.5 setting doesn’t change the speed compared to the regular, normal speed, setting;
  • the 2 setting displays approx. 2’00" of film in 1 minute of time;
  • the 3 setting displays approx. 2’57" of film in 1 minute of time.

B) in the Project monitor

  • the 1.5 setting doesn’t change the speed compared to the regular, normal speed, setting;
  • the 2 setting displays approx. 1’33" of film in 1 minute of time;
  • the 3 setting displays approx. 2’18" of film in 1 minute of time.

Conclusions:

  • the 1.5 setting does not change nor brings anything as it is: it might have to be improved;
  • whereas in the Clip monitor the fast forward functionality usually brings what it promises, in the Project monitor it doesn’t, it seems too slow .

So for what it is worth.

If I should report it as a bug or else, let me know.

Thank you very much for your attention and your great work.

Cheers

Ludo
