[Feature] Additional MPO files support

I have a camera that can take 3D pictures. These 3D pictures are saved as MPO (Multi-Pictures Object) files and can then be viewed on 3D TVs or Google Cardboard viewers or VR headset and maybe others I don’t know about. I also heard that some cameras store bursts in MPO files

While right now it is possible to manage mpo files in digikam, the support is very minimal.
I think it could be interesting to add some more features like

  • Export frames to distinct files
  • View images side by side
  • Support general image editing (brightness, contrast, …) on the whole container
  • Generates differential masks
  • Create MPO files from selected files

I also own a camera that can capture 3D images and saves them in the MPO file format. It would be great if these images could be viewed in different modes, such as side-by-side (vertical or horizontal) or as anaglyphs.

A feature for converting MPO files into individual frames and the other way around would already be very helpful (in the past, I created 3D images using two synchronized single cameras, and I would love to be able to merge those into MPO files.)
