"Find new items" runs for all my photos, even with an existing database in place

Hello digikam community,

First of all, thank you for that great software. I love digikam and successfully moved from Adobe to an alternative stack and I love it.

I have recently set up my new system and also digikam with an existing database.

My photos are all located in a network folder which is mounted via samba. This was the exact same setup on my previous machine.

I have installed digikam and pointed it to my existing database files.

The network folder was successfully recognized and I can see all my photos with my settings, like grouping and whatnot.

Digikam however, is running a huge process “Find new items” over all my files ( 30k photos) even though it should already know their content and has an existing thumbnail database in place.

Could somebody explain what is going on under the hood?
