Long time KDE user here!
I would like to share a patch I developed with the help of Claude to fix the lag that exists while searching for apps using the dashboard view for the main menu (Kicker applet).
This issue was being really annoying for me, and I did read over forums that other people was experiencing this.
I’m not going to lie, I’m not a developer, but I am an experienced systems administrator, can code simple things and understand structures, but this is over me.
I have been using both of my systems with this patch applied and I want to say it’s been awesome to use, search it’s instantaneous and I am not mislaunching apps like I was before.
I made Claude do a report of the issue, generate a patch, and attach the edited files.
I reviewed the changes and I can understand what it did conceptually, but I would need help from a developer to technically review it and do a merge request if you guys see it fits.
If the code can’t be merged because it’s AI generated, there’s a report on what causes issue, on the attached file, I hope it helps.
If I have to follow different path to do this, please help me!
