Folder Icon colours

A very common change is that you want a different colour icon for a particular folder in Dolphin. I think it would be nice if this use case in the icon selector is better supported in a smart and straight forward way. I mean that changing from a folder icon would suggest other icon findings than changing from a different type of icon but in any way propose similar choices.

I think that correspond to feature request: 37300 – Colored file emblems to tag files as "Hot", "Important", "Current Projects", "Personal", etc.

you can go to properties and select the icon to be able to change it to one of the other colored ones.

but it would be nice if the available color options were just shown on the properties page or even right in the context menu.

@Hangout, I know it’s not the same as choosing colors yourself, but some icon themes do it. I’m using Ars-Dark-Icons.

Should be fairly easy to do. This is based on a 5-ish servicemenu:

need a color for “this is some bullsh%t”

brown, maybe

Sure thing boss.

Brown is available for this type of thing. Does what it says on the tin.

Btw, if you need this, I simply adapted an existing servicemenu I have for folder coloring for the topic. Can’t imagine it needs a lot of tweaking to get it to work in 6-ish. Mostly the desktop file I guess.
Anywho…https://github.com/dfaust/kde-color-folder
