Font in Plasma not appearing

I recently downloaded a font (.otf format) and i installed the regular and light “variations” with the default KDE system settings font manager thingy. However, i decided that i wanted to install ALL the variations (Bold, semibold, etc etc) so i deleted the font and added it again, with all its variations.

However, this time it told me that both the regular and light variations (the ones i installed before) are already installed. When i press skip, it installs the rest of the fonts but now the regular and light ones dont appear. Its like they are installed internally but the program cant “read” them for some reason.

I have tried multiple times, i have tried resetting the laptop. I assume these fonts are installed in some location and i have to manually delete them for it work, but i dont know WHERE that location is.

I also tried the “find duplicate fonts” option, but to no avail.

Thanks for the help!

hi, welcome.

settings > font management should show you all the installed fonts.

but there are group filters that will affect what is visible in the list.

be sure to select the All Fonts group and sort by status to make sure it is not hidden.

I have already looked and made sure that i was using the All the fonts group, several times. still doesnt appear, thanks for the suggestion tho

right, well i do recall having something similar happen when installing fonts and that was the piece i was missing , if i recall.

or perhaps i just deleted them using the trashcan icon and reinstall them again.

my preferred method to install fonts is to just drag the fonts from dolphin to the font manager window’s font pane and follow the prompts

Well i have done everything, including reinstalling the font and it didnt work.

Try removing them manually by finding the font files in both ~/.local/share/fonts/ for local and /usr/share/fonts/ for system wide installations. Restart your pc then install the font with all groups again

You haven’t included your distro or other details so this may or may not apply but you may need to rebuild your font cache.

yeah sorry, i use arch btw
