I’ve recently encountered an issue regarding fullscreen games, but only when running KDE Plasma (Wayland) using the NVIDIA GPU. I don’t know if this is a bug or simply a problem on my end, but this does not happen on any other Wayland session (Hyprland, GNOME, etc.) or X11 session (Plasma X11). I’m not 100% sure if this is the correct place to post this, but
Games in windowed or maximized mode do not experience this issue at all, which is what particularly confuses me. Additionally, this issue does not occur when using Vsync or limiting the FPS to 60 (which is my monitor’s refresh rate).
So far, I have tried the following:
- Running OBS in the background: According to another post, this should’ve fixed the issue, but it didn’t work for me at all.
- Disabling GSP firmware: This didn’t fix anything either.
The following solutions did work; however, I’d prefer to stay on Plasma (Wayland) rather than using a workaround (if possible):
- Switching to X11: Games in fullscreen ran smoothly in X11 sessions.
- Using another Wayland compositor: This issue was nonexistent on Hyprland and GNOME.
So far, I haven’t found any other reports that matched my exact issue. Just wondering if anyone knows any possible solutions or what could be causing this.
Thanks!
