Getting new Themes - server errors

Two (mostly stable) Gentoo based systems:

  • Desktop - AMD system, running:
    • Plasma 6.2.5
    • KDE Frameworks: 6.10.0
    • Qt Version: 6.8.2
  • Laptop - Intel based Lenovo X390 with the same software stack

The laptop is a new install, while the desktop is about 5 years old and has migrated to Plasma 6 from Plasma 5.

There seems to be some issues with themes:

  • If I go into the themes settings, and press the button, I am presented with a dialog box with 20 themes. In the past versions, I remember this fetching more themes if you scrolled down, but that doesn’t seem to be the case any more?
  • If I then select on one of the themes, I get to the page for that theme, but there is a server error reported. This could be specific, like:
Network error 500: Error transferring https://api.kde-look.org/ocs/v1/person/data/jomada - server replied: Internal Server Error
or sometimes a more general error. Some themes download OK, and some fail when downloading:
Installation of /tmp/xznnQQ-Ant-Dark.tar.xz failed: Could not install dependency: 'kns://sddmtheme.knsrc/api.kde-look.org/2139782'

This behaviour seems to be the same on both systems, so I don’t think it is a result of the migration to Plasma 6.

Is my experience the same as others? Is this something which is being worked on currently. I would be interested to see if there are others with the same issues, or whether there is something else on these systems which is resulting in these problems.

Hello,

I think the fault is on the other end, at Plings servers.

Hi @Storm - thanks I will see what happens over the coming days. tbh - I am quite happy with the standard Breeze themes, but I thought I would have a look at what others have created!

I am experiencing this since a pretty long time now and there are a lot of posts in the net about this. However, it hasn’t been getting better too much, so I’m not expecting too much.
What you can do about the dependency, is to manually install it. There was some other thread or so where they had an explanation that the number is the end of the kde store link (/p/NUMBER), so you could go with that.
