I attempted to type “æ” as I do elsewhere (PopOS Cosmic) by:
Ctrl + Shift + U (release)
type code (00e6)
enter or space
And what I get in Ghostwriter is 00e6 typed out.
I saw this asked a few years ago and the answer was “enter unicode elsewhere then copy and paste into Ghostwriter. Has this been updated please?

I am so used to ISO standard that is implemented in GTK world by entering Ctrl+Shift+U+<code>.
For example, how to enter long dash U+2014 or black square U+25FE?
I memorized about dozen of codes of most frequently used symbols but I can’t enter them in Kate or KWrite.
Some people recommend to install ibus package. I did it, but it didn’t help unfortuntely.

Open system settings
and select keyboard
. Then select key bindings
. Then select position of compose key
. Then choose the key you want to set it to. I use right Alt Gr
. To type “æ” I then press “Alt Gr + ae”. If I want to type “™” I press “Alt Gr + tm”. The © symbol is Alt Gr + oc, et cetera.
Edit: This should also allow you to type unicode with (as an example) ctrl+shift+u+1f480. ctrl+shift+u+00e6 = æ. Which doesn’t work in ghostwriter, but works everywhere else it looks like. So maybe file a bug report for ghostwriter.

Thanks. Cosmic doesn’t have “key bindings,” and I’m unsure what their equivalent is. I’ve simply been using the standard unicode described above.
