Hello,
I’ve been receiving this error for the past 4 days and would like to know if the issue is on my end or there’s something going on somewhere else. Thank you
welcome, i think it’s just you, mate.
could be a locale thing, please prove for information
type “info” onto the desktop, go to the “about” settings page that comes up, and copy to clipboard so you can paste it here.
it's helpful when pasting blocks of text to
prepend three backticks and a new line before the text and
add a new line followed by tree more backticks
so it presents in a box like this.

there are some differences, and i wonder if that has anything to do with it.
i suggest try changing your language to “C”, restart, then change it back to American English, and restart again.
I did this but I still can’t change the global theme
You’re using a truly ancient version of Plasma. I would strongly recommend upgrading to a newer one by performing Ubuntu updates, at least to the latest LTS version and ideally to 24.10.
Hello,
To be honest, I was on 22.04 a week ago and the themes were working. I decided to move to 24.10 and found Sweet KDE theme wasn’t available, I decided to go back to 22.04 and found the all categories missing. To be honest I just wanted to upgrade because of the never ending countdown to end of support and I can’t get myself to use 24.10 which goes till next year. Right now as am typing I have fresh install of 24.04 and still getting the error. As I pointed out earlier, I don’t think am the only one having this issue as some people have posted on Reddit as well in the past few days and the point of being on older version doesn’t seem to reasonate to be the reason no theme should be downloaded, now that am even on clean 24.04 and still receiving the error.
Are all of you using Plasma 5?
I don’t know where Plasma 5 ends but if 24.04 is also Plasma 5 then yes. Also 22.04 worked before the error started occurring within the last 7 days till now. I haven’t tried 24.10 as I want to use the LTS instead.
Same issue on
openSUSE 15.6
KDE-Plasma 5.27.11
few days ago it was possible to get new global designs …
Encountering same problem. Debian 12.4 , Plasma 5.27.2.
I’m using Sparky Linux tracking Debian Trixie (testing), currently with Plasma 5.27.11, and having the same issue.
At first I didn’t bother, thinking it was either a temporary network problem or a temporary inconsistency in Debian Testing, but seeing that stable users of Debian, Ubuntu and Open SUSE experience the same issue at the same time as me, I’m starting to think it’s probably not on my side, or it’s a very strange coincidence going on.
I am facing the same issue. I am on Kubuntu 24.04.1 LTS with KDE 5.27.11.
It’s without any doubt an issue, doesn’t matter if a new install or not. It’s on all distros using plasma.
I reckon it fetches from store kde org, and that site is reachable without any problems. So something about authentication is wrong or some other issue with plasma components. If one instead tries to get a new SDDM theme, it works, and maybe other plasma stuff. But themes are definetly broken now. From what I’ve heard, this thing has happened before a few times.
Is there a bug filed?
Any insight from plasma devs here?
I have tried a few hints on how to install a theme manually, but failed miserably. Anyone knowing a definitive method?
I’m sobbing here because I want my CommonalitySol theme
