Gmail IMAP broken in KMail

  • Already configured to work with Interlink (a fork of Mozilla mail) using an app password from my Gmail account.
  • OAuth doesn’t work - it never pops up any authentication page in my default browser so using the app password here.
  • Authentication method has been set to PLAIN in the account settings.
  • When I search for server subscriptions, it lists out all the folders in my GMail account - which means it is able to access the account.

Despite all the above - no folders are shown/created in KMail, and on the ‘Receiving’ tab of the account settings it says ‘server not available’. Server is the standard one - imap.gmail.com, port 993, encryption set to SSL/TLS and it works fine in my other mail client as already mentioned.

This might be the same bug I encountered.
As a workaround you could temporarily switch to STARTTLS, fetch mails once, then switch back to SSL/TLS. Not great security-wise, but (mostly) worked for me.
