It’s slightly unfortunate that the bitrate of the YouTube stream is so bad that you can barely read anything.
Hi,
Have a good week-end, keep the good job :-)
Is there anywhere else to get the presentations? The Youtube stream is impossible to see or hear anything ; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7LE0w1RTA4M
This would have been amazing to see ; Akademy 2024 (7-12 September 2024): Plasma Next - Visual Design Evolution for Plasma · KDE Events (Indico)
Last year at least they managed to upload watchable recordings of each presentation after the fact… several months later.
I generally don’t like sounding too negative and don’t want to blame anyone specific here but how did you guys f*** up the livestream so badly, again? You’re at a university, surely they good enough internet for >300kbps livestreams.
It is absolutely impossible to read any text on any slide, and in room 2 you don’t get to see the slides at all. Just how?
I’d genuinely love to try and understand this more… was this just not important @ngraham ? People love to get involved, and the streams are a great way to showcase what’s happening and pique people’s interest. Genuinely bummed out at again not being able to see more of Akademy remotely. Not all of us can travel.
I’m not involved with Akademy organizing, sorry. I can’t do or be involved with everything.
Akademy is a free event organized by volunteers doing their best with the resources available in the moment. Even with testing as well as possible beforehand things still go wrong and we do the best we can to adjust and some things are just outside of our power to control.
If you want to fix problems you’re welcome to volunteer your time to edit videos after akademy or help out next year.
Can some of the money we donate be used for dedicated portable AV recording? I can understand not everywhere would have the capability. Genuinely surprised a University didn’t have it, so maybe using some of the funds to make this more functional would be an idea.
We are looking into how to improve the recordings and streaming but have not yet decided what exactly we will do.
