Graphical/Display Issues after installing updates on 8/2/2026

I am on Kubuntu 26.04 LTS, KDE Plasma 6.6.5, Wayland.

I have updates set to install daily on my machine, and after booting up this morning, I’m having some odd issues with some things not displaying properly. Most of my desktop widgets appear broken; the system monitor widgets are missing bar/line graphs, and my clock is missing a background layer that forms the border of the clock. When I enter “Edit Mode”, the display of the desktop goes completely blank.

So far I’ve tried checking for and installing the latest updates and rebooting to finish installing them, but no change. I’m unsure what to troubleshoot next.

Seems to be graphics driver related somehow. I can still play games fine, but I noticed that System Monitor is having the same graphical issue and has this warning up top

I tried switching from NVIDIA 580 “open kernel” to 580 proprietary, 595 “open kernel”, and 595 proprietary, no change for any of them.
