GUI for Kdenlive

I finallly got the panel arrangement to “stick” together, but now when I open kdenlive part of the app is on my Dell monitor and the rest of it is on my laptop screen. Any idea how to fix this? It all works ok if I move the laptop part over to the Dell monitor and resize it, but it doesn’t save that when you save the project. This is on kdenlive 25.12.3 running appimage on latest Linux Mint/Cinnamon … anybody experiencing this? or is it just me. is_jnr@yahoo.com

I have a very similar issue with my huion screen tablet (as in it doubles as a monitor) where it just chooses on a whim if it wants to be the monitor or the tablet to launch on. If I recall, this is a limitation of the X11 window system along with other limitations provided by kwin (or any other desktop environment for that matter).

I wish there was a way to make this work, but for now, I guess the best you can do is hope for the best.

It will be more a function of whatever window manager you’re using. It’s allowed to ignore the size and position hints that an application provides - but mostly that’s just about who gets the final say if insane or somehow conflicting requests are made, it’s not some ‘fundamental problem’ or limitation of X11 itself.

It will also depend on how you have your second monitor configured in that WM.
With both MATE and Plasma this has generally been well behaved for me (main window opens initially on the main screen, with the option to double click on the monitor widget and have it go fullscreen on the second monitor) - but I’ve not used Cinnamon to say anything specific about what works or how to best configure multiple monitors there.

Thx …its not a terrible problem. Just takes about a minute to fix when you open the project. Cheers

It really shouldn’t be happening though, so it would be nice if someone on an affected system can dig a bit deeper into why …

I will see what I can do. Am not real technical, but am getting around in Linux ok these days

Thanks ..will let you know if I find a ‘cure’
