Gui for the lsp Audio Plugins

I use with Mint 22.3 under Ardour or Audacity the great lsp Audio plugins.
Kdenlive Appimage recognise it in the usr/lib/ladspa directory in effekt / audio
But without the original Gui of the plugins they are not usable.

Would nice if that would be improved.

Well, Ardour and Audacity are the right tools for audio processing; Kdenlive is the right tool for video editing.

I agree with you that w/o the LSP GUI the filters cannot be used in Kdenlive. But I am not sure they should because Kdenlive is not a DAW.

Do all the editing in Kdenlive, then render the audio portion only, fire up Ardour or Audacity and do all the audio processing there, and then bring the audio track back into Kdenlive for final rendering.

That is old-school working method. Audio editing is a part of every good cuting video: Interviews, Podcasts etc has all optimized via EQ, Compressor, Noise Reduction…..

For these good filters already exist using the Kdenlive effect UI. No need to introduce specialized filters requiring a particular UI.

@stefan-franz, these effects are already available in Kdenlive. @berndmj is 100% spot on.

Here are just some…

Some old and easy filters are there - you’re right.
But: I don’t see a parametric 5 Band EQ
Or a compressor that shows me the level and the working.

If the devs of the Kdenlive would make to run these filters it would be a new are of audio feature and would be have a high end level in audio as e.g. Davinci Resolve
The lsp filtes are great.
Only a suggestion from me to contribute the power of Kdenlive.

LADSPA plugins in general don’t have a custom GUI (as far as I know). As VSTs or LV2s, it might work, but with LADSPA plugins you should only see the raw parameters exposed (I might be wrong here, but the LSP LADSPA plug-ins don’t have a GUI even in Carla (you know, the great plug-in host)).

So this is technically more of a feature request for plug-ins other than LADSPA (right?)…

It could be a good idea to optionally depend on Carla and then let plug-ins run through it.

The lsp plugins are available also in vst, vst3 and lv2
As mentioned: The best plugins as i know in audio - don’t know others with that power. The parametric Eqs in 8,16 or 32 band are outstanding.

I know that (I use them myself, just not in Kdenlive). The issue is not that THEY don’t have the right format. The issue that Kdenlive doesn’t support plugin formats that have a GUI (which LADSPA doesn’t).

LV2 and VST support is on our roadmap. We know that some filters only make sense with a GUI.

LADSPA 1197 is a Multiband EQ (16, IIRC) and is available as one of the Steve Harris’ SWH Plugins
