I usually encounter a situation where I have a folder of images, which was extracted from a video, and I did some tasks on top of it: segment, object detection, etc.
Naturally, I would like to go through the whole folder, to grasp a basic view of how the work is done. In some of the viewers, I can easily do it by hold pressing down/right arrow, such that it continues to “play” images, and I can have a glance at each of them.
But gwenview will not display the process: instead, it stuck at the image I started to hold press, and only refreshed, and showed the image where I stopped.
Is there any way to config that behaviour? or am I using the wrong tool?
in my view, you are using the wrong tool… but i’d be happy to be wrong if others can help you.
i’ve tried to use gwenview for exactly this sort of quick review task and became frustrated because gwenview makes a copy of whatever you have selected and puts it into a tmp folder for your work.
what i wanted was a viewer that simply let me flip thru the selected images to compare them, along with some simple tools to crop, rotate, and most importantly DELETE the images on the fly without the whole thing becoming a project that i have to “save”
nomacs or gthumb can do that sort of task really well… nomacs even has a “pong” feature that lets you bounce back and forth between two images.
