Gwenview crashes when opening video

After upgrading to plasma 6 Gwenview works still fine for pictures, but does not show any videos. For example in a slide show after some pics there is a video Gwenview just crashed. Worked fine before the upgrade.

Phonon/gstreamer integration problem?

Kind regards,

Søren

*doesn’t

Spelling, Søren.

Anyway, sorry, but I have no clue how to help.

Try running from terminal gwenview /path/to/your/file.mp4, it may tell you what the problem is.

Good morning, the terminal output is:

Check if you have Phonon-qt6-backend-vlc or something smiliar installed or not?

Hey ho, yes, the Phonon qt6 files are installed. I’ve also tried to delete and install again Gwenview but the problem is still there. On two machines.

See 483242 – Gwenview crashes on opening video

It is unrelated to Phonon.

Many thanks for this information!

should be: phonon-qt6-vlc

It used to solve the issue (as phonon-qt5-vlc) in Plasma 5.

The linked bug report says fixed now.
