Hello,
i have installed the version 5.2.0-2cbd7a8 of kmymoney, and i am very happy about all the improvements or new features.
-
I used the version=5.1.3-eef04f1 before upgrading and did use the search bar (1) quite often, whereas i almost never used the search icon “find transaction” (2), see screenshot.
-
When i compare to version 5.2, the graphical user interface is different and the “search bar” (or “filter”) is gone:
Is this normal?
Or can i adjust it through some user setting and let the search bar appear as it was in version 5.1 ?

ups, sorry for the duplicate question… thanks for the link !
does the search with ctrl+F works identically in version 5.2 as it did in 5.1.3 ? Does it search through the transaction attributes Memo, category, tag etc. ?
I am asking because of this example: i search the word “retrait” (which is my standard category in kmymoney to flag withdrawing cash).
- When i run this search in kmymoney 5.1.3, the last records are from 15th July 2025
- When i run this search in kmymoney 5.2.0, the last records are from 28th dec 2023
both search ran on the same file of data.
I am not sure whether the search function doesn’t search through the categories anymore??
Not sure, but it could well be that this changed and needs to be tweaked to behave like previous versions.
ok. Should i build a test .kmy file for this and if i reproduce the issue, create a bug in https://bugs.kde.org?
That sound like a brilliant idea. That way, it does not get forgotten. This URL prefills some of the fields.
the URL https://bugs.kde.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=kmymoney&format=guided gives this result:
it seems that the website bugs.kde.org is down currently.
Anyway I’ll post it later.
Recently, there has been a note at the top of bugs.kde.org stating that email updates from that site are not working, and the team is working on it. I’m hoping that is the case, and it will be back soon. Unfortunately, I can’t find the ULR for the status of all the KDE services. I thought it was status.kde.org, but that now requires a login.
Yes, but you can use the “Sign in with Gitlab” button at the bottom to login. Sysadmin is aware of b.k.o being down.
My bad here - the email issue I referred to was for bugs.gentoo.org, not bugs.kde.org, so that login request should not have surprised me. I need more sleep.
i have created the bug:
my original question was different from this bug and has been answered above by @ipwizard .
