I have been playing around with the HDR feature in KDE and one thing I have noticed is the way it works incorrectly with certain games.
Certain games like Path of Exile 2 or Lords of the Fallen intentionally use HDR peak brightness of 10,000 nits on many elements to create a white glowing effect. For example in Path of Exile 2, when you cast spells like lightning or go to waypoints, there is supposed to be a white glowing element within, which the developers create by intentionally pushing 10,000 nits. Same thing with the lamp and many other elements in Lords of the Fallen.
What I have noticed is that these effects appear very incorrectly when using HDR in KDE, as the game hard clips at your calibrated peak brightness. There is no way to get around this since the peak brightness slider itself is limited at the moment to 2000 nits. Is there any way to fix this problem or allow the user to set 10,000 nits on the peak brightness slider so that these games don’t hard clip and look incorrect?
