For about two months I have been trying to install a distro with KDE on my OLED laptop (an ASUS Vivobook pro 14). While everything else works great, I seem to be running into the same issue on every distro I’ve tried (mainly Nobara, Fedora KDE and Bazzite, since I am most familliar with the fedora family of distrtos). When I enable HDR through the settings app, my screen starts to violently flicker between a seemingly normal output an a grey, wahed-out output. Again, changing distros and reinstalling the OS did not help.
Has anyone encountered this issue? Maybe found some cort of solution for it? The screen on this laptop is really great and I don’t want its color range to go to waste
OLED HDR support is currently being worked on as it is not perfect currently.
For instance 490517 – Changing brightness with Night Light enabled causes un-night-light-tinted flickering was fixed recently.
I would encourage you to report a bug on https://bugs.kde.org/ for kwin if you’d like to help out.
Plasma 6.2 should eventually improve things.
Thanks for the reply - did just that. Hopefully this gets resolved quickly - I really don’t want to go back to Windows 11…
