How can I disable mouse buttons?

I’m currently setting up a new PC with Kubuntu 25.10 – Plasma 6.4.5, QT 6.9.2 and Wayland.

I’m using an Evoluent VerticalMouse D and a Kensington SlimBlade Pro trackball as input devices. Unfortunately, I keep accidentally pressing some mouse buttons. How can I disable individual mouse buttons?

I have installed input-remappe. The vertical mouse and the trackball are recognised. I can use the programme to assign individual keyboard keys to the mouse buttons. However, if I leave the output field blank, I cannot save the changes.

How can I disable individual buttons on my mouse?

A. Please don’t install the old 25.10 version - it has already been replaced by the current 26.04 and has less than 3 months of support left. The current version also have a current Plasma and not 6.4 - which is no longer supported.

B. Have you tried the “configure extra buttons” feature in System Settings mouse section?

It would be better to say which buttons, rather than be vague… if you’re talking about extra buttons, then it’s right there in the settings where you can set a null function…

Input Remapper is a more powerful solution allowing you to map a button to do nothing.
