Hello dear community,
I believe that the GCompris application, which we recently experienced with my three-year-old son, is a very valuable educational tool for children. While the basic structure of the application is successful, I have identified some areas of development that can further increase its potential. This feedback focuses on both in-app content and general design features.
Although GCompris already offers a rich range of games, I believe that the addition of the following game types will increase the educational value of the application.
Basic 2D Car Racing Game: A simple car racing game can be integrated to develop children’s hand-eye coordination and simple reaction skills.
Traffic Rules and Signs Education: An interactive game that teaches the rules of driving in traffic and basic traffic signs will contribute to the formation of traffic awareness at an early age.
Fruit Cutting and Cooking Themed Games: Games designed to support daily life skills, such as cutting fruit or preparing simple recipes, can be added. Such games will help children understand basic concepts related to nutrition and cuisine.
School Bus Simulation: A school bus game based on the concept of picking up children from certain stops and taking them to school can support the adaptation process of preschool children to school and reinforce the concept of transportation. Such themes will facilitate the understanding of topics such as eating, drinking and education at an early age.
However, I also have some evaluations about the general appearance of the application.
Application Icon: I think that the current application icon has an aesthetic that reminds of adult games and is insufficient in terms of appealing to children. In particular, the use of a dice figure can have a negative impact in terms of the perception of the target audience. A warmer, more cute and pedagogically appropriate icon design for a child-focused application will significantly increase the attractiveness of the application.
Application Name: Making the name of the application more memorable for children and suitable for the age group will positively affect the recognition of the application and its preferability among parents.
I believe that the suggestions mentioned above will increase the value and accessibility of the GCompris application among its target audience, children and parents. I hope that this feedback will contribute to the development processes.
