How do I apply "Subtitle Styles" to all subtitles in a clip?

I’m looking for guidance on how to use the subtitle tool.

Specifically how to apply styles to all clips in a selection.

I assumed that from the subtitle manager I would be able to apply the selected style to all the clips. But that isn’t the case.

I also assumed I could just select all of the subtitles in the clip and apply the style. But that wasn’t the case either:

How do I apply a subtitle style at the time of creation?

Love this feature btw, it’s really cool. Just not sure how to navigate the UI.

This is a “work in progress” that still has a few rough edges, but I am working my way through finding and fixing them as we speak.

Please have a look at:

Which might answer your current query with how subtitle styles work, and follow up on that thread with any other issues you have, or things you would like to see different with this.

I’ve already fixed quite a few of them, but there’s a bit more still to be done before that’s ready to be pushed out for wider user testing.

Oh right on. Nice work btw. I’m really impressed by how functional the subtitling was. (And just Kdenlive as a whole. So many things can be done in this program.)

If you need any help testing something. Let me know. I’d be glad to help where I can.

Workaround:

( you can always do any major change you like along those lines by just editing the *.ass in your favourite text editor in the unusual cases).

I didn’t do the work to create the current implementation - thanks for that belongs to several other people and some GSOC mentors.

But it is at the point now where I think I could seriously replace aegisub with just doing it all in kdenlive - so I’ve bitten the bullet to chip in and work on finishing it to that point.

For now, until this is in a state where it’s ready to hit the nightlies, the best help people really using the subtitler can give would be noting anything that’s missing or broken to be able to work how they most would like to in that thread I linked above.

I have my own patterns for that, but like the rest of kdenlive I want this to be able to fit well for any style of use that’s logically coherent, and there may be things I don’t do that I haven’t considered yet.
