I just upgraded my desktop to Fedora 40. I have plasmoids that I no longer want. How the hell do I remove them? Right clicking gives me the option to “Add or Manage Widgets” but I don’t see how to remove a widget.
The help center says:
Unlock the desktop and you’ll be able to add and remove Plasma widgets from panel or desktop. You add Plasma widgets by simply dragging them where you want them. Right click on an widget to remove it.
Right clicking on a widget in the panel does not give me a remove option. I can’t get a screenshot because the shortcuts I have setup for Spectacle don’t work when the menu is open
If you want to remove a widget from the Panel, click on “Show Panel Configuration” or left click on the panel once you are in “Add or Manage WIdgets” mode and then hover the widget.
I tried to replace the icons-only task manager with the one that shows the titles.
I now have 2 copies of icons-only and the icons-and-text task manager.
I made the mistake of looking at the running widgets and clicked on the icons-only that added one more.
Your suggestion on looking in the list of Uninstallable widgets shows me an empty list. Is the task manager protected or special?
They are part of plasma and can’t be deleted, sure… and I’m confused because when I look for alternatives, I can just switch them and don’t end up with duplicates:
You can only remove widgets which you have added yourself.
That is the difference between remove and delete, understood.
What I want to do is remove the extra widgets from the Panel Config.
How do I do that from the GUI?
As noted right-click only allows you to access the config of the widget.
