How do I turn off tiling (again)

Since the update to Plasma 6, I am finding windows are acting in a tiling behavior even though the editor is turned off. I drag and re-arrange windows a lot, an it seems a lot of the time the window will suddenly resize to the whole desktop, or half the desktop horizontally or vertically as I try to move a window around and reach the edges or corners. It is doing it automatically and the window “drops”, forcing a regrab to undo the tile.

I like the snap feature and do not want to lose that, but Windows should only maximize and resize when I tell them to. I want tiling completely off.

edit - I tried turning off everything that may effect tiling behavior, but it still persists. Double clicking the edge of an app will cause it to tile. I want all automatic tiling features turned off. Completely off.

Uncheck these two checkboxes.

Ya know… the worst part is… I had remembered the screen edges page a few days ago, but got distracted with troubleshooting other things, and forgot that I remembered. I feel like a frikin idiot. Must be getting old or something

Thank you.

That actually did not work. I have discovered that if you double click an app border it will tile the window. How do I turn tiling off completely? I do not want windows autosizing or adjusting anything automatically.

Do you have this setting off? An dont have any weird window rules or anything set strange in window behaviors?

It is off, yes. I have tried turning back on and then off again. There are no rules set, the page is empty.

An nothing weird is set here

other then that im not sure unless you have some kwin script or something

I tried turning off the double click to maximize, which works, but is not the problem. The rest is default. I do not do a whole lot of customization and almost everything is out of the box stock. Are you in Wayland? You seem to be missing a lot of settings. Gorgeous theme by the way, what is that?

Windows will indeed maximize vertically/horizontally when double-clicking the edges. I couldn’t find a setting to turn that off. But does it really triggers accidentally? I must admit that having used plasma for multiple years, I hadn’t noticed this feature before.

Ah i made the screenshot smaller an didn’t include the list like before. But ya I’m not sure maybe someone else knows what might be causing it.

My theme,

But i use tweaks like window/application rules to change opacity of windows that don’t have it like settings is at 85%. an force blur an kde rounded corners. the window decorations i customized the lavender one to look like it is. an pulled the mac like button from the layton window decorations.

I only noticed it happening recently due to some hardware changes (removed a GPU and 3 monitors from my display wall) to simplify my rig as recent versions of X and Wayland both are not playing nicely with it anymore. IMO KWin is broken badly.

I use trackballs, not mice (I do media development and high dps trackballs are much more precise than mice) and the left click seems to be wearing out and occasionally doing unintentional double clicks when I try to drag a window edge to resize it. It is very expensive to replace and its not always doing it, so I am loath to spend money on it at the moment. That led to the discovery of this feature. I do not hate it, its just problematic.

I see. You can make a feature request on bugs.kde.org to expose a setting to switch it off.

I will make the request.
