How is quick tile supposed to work?

Meta+Left tiles the window to the left third of the screen, but Meta+T shows the tiles split 50/50… to quote Manuel from Faulty Towers (UK Sitcom): “Que?”

try reloading one of the canned layouts and modify that.

Meta+Left is for the old tiling system. For the the new tiling system (Meta+T) you gotta hold shift and then drag your window into the tile using your mouse.

I am not aware for any shortcuts without mouse to use the new tiling system.

the quick tile and the meta+T tile are separate features?

are there any plans to merge them so it feels more connected?

it would make sense if the quick tile shortcuts (meta + [up|dn|lt|rt]) would put you into the respective corners of whatever your meta+T scheme looked like.

which is i think the expected behavior the OP is looking for.

As best as I can tell, yes.

I don’t think so: core/placement: change quicktile hotkeys to work relatively (!6342) · Merge requests · Plasma / KWin · GitLab

Also I have no Idea how @Paul_Worrall manages to tile it to the left third? For me it uses half the screen when I use Meta+Left

@Duha At some stage I must have dragged the split to the left, and it’s remembered the last position.
