Hi there!
Newbie to KDE here. I am trying to edit a video and must join together bits of audio. I haven’t found references to how to do it, may well be that I search for wrong words. I am able to group clips but when I try to cut a group it does not work. It is all probably due to my lack of experience , even though I have read the full manual as carefully as possible, and searched the net for quite a while before coming here.
Will be thankful for tips
Well, I just succeeded in splicing a group, 2 minutes after posting. I don’t get the logic but I am already used to it.
Still would like to know whether grouping is the right way to join clips in Kdenlive.
You cannot join clips in Kdenlive in the sense that two or more clips become one. Grouping is the closest you can get to that but this only helps with moving the grouped clips around as one. ATM, you even cannot apply effects to grouped clips (Kdenlive adds it to the first one, IIRC) but the dev team is currently working on a new feature that allows that.
A possible workaround is to move the clips you want to join into their own sequence and then put the sequence into another one. That way they show up as one clip in the other sequence. You could also add the clips you want to join to the Library and then later put them back into the timeline. They will show up as one (library) clip.
Please keep in mind that not all actions apply to a sequence or a library clip the same way they would on truly single/individual clips.

thanks for a clarifying answer ! It did help!
Select two or more clips that are one after one. Right click on them, Select ‘Create sequence from selection’.
Done!
