How to reset KWallet?

Hello

I have issues with kwalletmanager and kwalletservice.

I reinstalled Fedora42 and then copied the home directory from my backup to my new system. This seems to have introduced issues to kwallet. I don’t remember how I had it configured before the reinstallation, because it was just silently working in the background. Now when I want to add a new Wi-Fi connection or start Chromium, I’m asked for a password that I don’t know.

When I open KWalletManager, it shows an error that it cannot connect to the KWallet Sevice. I thus can’t do anything with it.

If I use kwallet-query kdewallet -l, it hangs and doesn’t return anything.

Is there a way to completely reset the KWallet? I tried removing the KWallet app, but this seems to not touch the KWallet Service and any stored wallets.

Thanks for your advice :folded_hands:

Hold on, I think I managed:

Terminating kwalletd6, then launching KWalletManager and I could delete the wallet “kdewallet”. Now trying to set everything up properly :crossed_fingers:

That works. For future reference, another option is to change the password of the migrated wallet to match the login password of your new user account. If they don’t match, the wallet won’t be automatically unlocked at login.
