How to switch Japanese keyboard kani?

Hi. In Settings, Keyboard, Keyboard, I add a new layout.
I assume Japanese layout is Romaji Japanese, and Japanese Kana layout is for both Hiragana and katakana.
In the latter, the caps lock key is converted to a Elsu Toggle, and the tilde key is converted to a Kanji/Zenkaku/Hankaku key. But pressing either does nothing. And no matter what combination I have tried, the keyboard does not switch to Hiragana. Im stuck with typing in katakana.
テニトハセコホコマトイシキワヨ (random keymash sequence).

What key combination must I press to switch modes? Thank you.
No, Im not talking about switching layouts, though if you know how to get Hiragana layout then that would work
Yes, I know I can use fcitx5 and that does work, but surely KDE designed this to work. Or do they just provide a katakana layout, ..why?

Hi, I’m Lemon73 from JKUG (Japan KDE User Group).

For now, Japanese setting is a little troublesome.

In short:

  1. Install IME (mozc-fctix5)
  2. Change keyboard layout
  3. Change Mozc settings
