I tried to assign a the key via the application laucher settings, shortcuts, via the config file (~/.config/kglobalshortcutsrc) and via the other config file (~/.config/kwinrc) i have also asked in the discord and they didn’t know either what to do. I also installed wev and it looks like it picks the key up

not knowing exactly what you’ve done to you setup at this point, or what version of plasma you are running, it’s hard to say why meta is not working.
there was a time when you needed to configure the app launcher/menu shortcut to meta+F1 or something not already in use and then it would work with just the meta key alone.
you could try that.

What happens if you assign to ALT+F1 instead of trying to press the Meta key? I think both should work, but that’s technically what the default shortcut is.
As an aside, we don’t have a Discord?
Yeah, which Discord? Is this some 3rd-party-operated KDE Discord server?
It was the CachyOS discord but for your question alt+F1 works fine
