I setup a proxy IP (failed to setup) and now Discover is giving errors when trying to update for some PPAs

Here’s some of the codes:

That ip address is the proxy I tried to setup:

I use an android app that shares the cell network with my laptop through a proxy IP.

I tried to setup it up for my laptop (I think I made a post about it here). And failed.

I was using the Plasma Settings GUI to add it here:

The proxy didn’t work. I tried to add it using all the other options on that screen.

I had the proxy set to “No Proxy” when getting these errors btw.

Where do I start troubleshooting this at?

With Ubuntu/Debian based systems you also need to configure apt to use the proxy.
Something like this.

You can use Kate or kwrite to edit the file once it has been created

Interesting. And good to know.

However, this problem doesn’t happen when I run apt update:

Certainly, here's the formatted version of the error messages:

This should make it easier to diagnose the issues.

And, as far as I know, I have disabled the proxy. So the error should not persist. Does Discover have settings which control apt within itself? As in there are other settings for apt in Discover, or settings related to apt.

The warnings are from having multiple instances of the same sources present in multiple files, namely the two Edge repo files, as they each mention:

/etc/apt/sources.list.d/microsoft-edge-dev.list and /etc/apt/sources.list.d/microsoft-edge.list

You only need one of them, as they have identical repos listed, so you can install any version of Edge after installing the first instance. Chrome’s deb does the same thing.

This is unrelated to any proxy setup. Can’t recall if running apt full-upgrade still works with these warnings (they are not errors), but Discover may not be good at dealing with them.

Figured it out:

Discover uses an sql lite db located at: /var/lib/PackageKit/transactions.db

Install sqlitebrowser
sudo apt install sqlitebrowser
Then:
sudo sqlitebrowser /var/lib/PackageKit/transactions.db

Open the proxy table and delete offending entry.

This problem happened after I setup a system wide proxy. Not sure why.

thanks, same thing happened to me on Fedora 39
