Does anybody know if it is possible to tell KStars/Ekos to ignore PHD2 settling failure? My mount has problems but once everything settles down (takes time), guiding isn’t too bad. But settling almost always fails.
Until recently KStars did ignore the settling error but something changed and now the Scheduler aborts when it sees the settling failure from PHD2.
I wonder what could have changed because the issue started before I made any update to my KStars version.
Google’s AI said that the “Settle” setting in the Guiding module’s Options under Dither section controls how long Ekos waits for PHD2 to settle, even when dithering is not used. Is that true? I am yet to test after I have now increased it to 360 seconds but if it is so, then it should be moved elsewhere out of Dither options because I have now ignored that setting because dithering isn’t even enabled, and I have assumed that it only relates to dithering.
And if that isn’t so, then where is the setting for how long Ekos waits for guiding to settle? The non-dithering settle setting. It sort of looks like it might do both, and should be moved elsewhere in the Options.
yeah the Settle time under Guiding → Options → Dither is the one Ekos uses when it waits for PHD2 to report settled, even if dithering is off. bumping it to a few minutes is the right setting if your mount needs that long.
if the scheduler still aborts after settle succeeds late, check Guiding options for anything that aborts on settle failed / guiding error, and in PHD2 itself the settle settings (pixels / time). paste your KStars version and whether dither is actually enabled.
Where can I post change requests? A lot of these settings have upper limits that do not work for me.
Guiding works just fine for me but the 360 seconds upper limit for Settle is not enough.

for the 360s settle ceiling, id also bump PHD2s own settle time/pixels under Brain → Guiding so PHD2 reports settled b4 ekos times out. that got me past ekos max when the mount was slow.
Which setting would that be? In phd2 I have looked for anything related to settling but haven’t found anything.
