Input method doesn't work

I am using zorin os 16 pro, and I have installed KDE plasma simply because it’s more beautiful for the vibrancy.

But I want to set vietnamese layout for my keyboard since I’m a vietnamese ofc. still When I open Input Method, this bug appeared:

Current configuration for the input method:
 * Active configuration: missing (normally missing)
 * Normal automatic choice: ibus (normally ibus or fcitx or uim)
 * Override rule: zh_CN,fcitx:zh_TW,fcitx:zh_HK,fcitx:zh_SG,fcitx:ja_JP,fcitx:ko_KR,fcitx:vi_VN,fcitx
 * Current override choice:  (en_US)
 * Current automatic choice: ibus
 * Number of valid choices: 2 (normally 1)
The override rule is defined in /etc/default/im-config.
The configuration set by im-config is activated by re-starting X.
Explicit selection is not required to enable the automatic configuration if the active one is default/auto/cjkv/missing.
  Available input methods: ibus xim
Unless you really need them all, please make sure to install only one input method tool.

And If I click Ok. this happens
Do you explicitly select the user configuration?

  • Select NO, if you do not wish to update it. (recommended)
  • Select YES, if you wish to update it.
    Then I have 2 options: Yes / No

Situation 1: Yes

If I choose anything from the list

Setting the user configuration /home/hoanghieu/.xinputrc to default.
Automatic configuration selects: ibus
Intelligent Input Bus (IBus)
 * Required for all: ibus
 * Language specific input conversion support:
   * Japanese: ibus-mozc (best) or ibus-anthy or ibus-skk
   * Korean: ibus-hangul
   * Simplified Chinese: ibus-pinyin or ibus-sunpinyin or ibus-googlepinyin
   * Traditional Chinese: ibus-chewing
   * Thai: ibus-table-thai
   * Vietnamese: ibus-unikey or ibus-table-viqr
   * X Keyboard emulation: ibus-xkbc
   * Generic keyboard translation table: ibus-m17n or ibus-table* packages
 * Application platform support:
   * GNOME/GTK+: ibus-gtk and ibus-gtk3 (both)
   * KDE/Qt: ibus-qt4
   * Clutter: ibus-clutter
   * EMACS: ibus-el

The user configuration is modified by im-config.

Restart the X session to activate the new user configuration.
If a daemon program for the previous configuration is re-started by the X session manager, you may need to kill it manually with kill(1).
See im-config(8) and /usr/share/doc/im-config/README.Debian.gz for more.

that bug appears

Situation 2: No

Keeping the user configuration /home/hoanghieu/.xinputrc unchanged as default.

That’s all I can provide to you, I am trying to use Ibus-bamboo for it to work. everything’s fine until the Input method can not be opened. thanks!

X11 or Wayland? ibus doesn’t work on Wayland until 1.5.29

I am using X11. I guess I bugged something when installing Ibus

Is ibus running in the background? I remember when I was using kubuntu I have to start ibus manually many times.

I just restarted my computer and Ibus opens up automatically and work great. but it’s not like from my system, it’s like a separate app that just help me write vietnamese. So I guess it’s running ? and yeah I did try to to open Ibus then open Input method, Input method still dead. but normally we don’t need to start Ibus manually though. my other gnome works great without having to open Ibus. it just works automatically

Yeah, ibus works best with GNOME, and fcitx5 works best with Plasma.
