I’m replacing my windows 10 operating system but there isn’t an option to replace existing OS during the installation process.
Which distro are you installing?
Actually, are you using bitlocker on your Windows? I think that this encryption locks the Windows partition, so the installer is unable to delete or reformat. You can disable bitlocker, and try again.
If not Bitlocker, then maybe Windows Fast Restart?
I know I saw someone with a similar problem somewhat recently, but I can’t locate it at the moment.
In Fedora’s installer there is an option to use the entire disk, which will have the result of deleteing all the windows partitions. Is that what you want to do?
See https://fedoraproject.org/ to get the installer image.
create a new partition table on the disk and nothing windows does can stop it.
Thanks for all the suggestions. Turns out, all I had to do is reboot and start the installation process again and I got the option to erase the entire disk. I took this option and the installation proceeded without any further problems.
Thanks again for the feedback and suggestions.
