I have trouble getting my IPP Everywhere Canon 7650i printer to print after all. The printer is connected via usb cable and recognized correctly in driverless mode.
Installed arch packages are: avahi cups cups-pdf system-config-printer ipp-usb
Avahi and cups sockets are activated.
Now when i enter Plasma’s 6.7.0 systemsettings/printer and click to print a testpage, nothing happens (but listed finished print jobs).
What am i missing?
After cups update to version 4.2 (if I remember) last spring Brother HL-5250 DN does not print. It’s connected with local network. I can ping and it responses. I can login to administration of that printer website with browser. But when I print from Kubuntu 26.04 computer it puts printing job to job queue. And all is ok, but the printer doesn’t print. And any led of printer doesn’t show something happened.
I think that printer drivers doesn’t work ok.
So it’s very similar to my situation, except that I connect via a USB cable (IPP). The print jobs are simply listed in the queue as completed jobs (all only 1 KB in size).
I found one last thing in the Arch Wiki (see Avahi). It was worth a try.
Install the nss-mdns package and edit /etc/nsswitch.conf accordingly. Unfortunately, that didn’t help either.
I couldn’t find a driver for the device on Gutenprint, so I have no other choice but to go with IPP.
Does anyone else have any ideas? Maybe someone who uses Arch and knows their way around better?
The printer was installed correctly. Maybe it’s just a small detail I forgot?
