Is it possible to get active window highlighting and/or window spacing with vanilla Plasma?

Hi!

I’ve been using Plasma 6 for a while and I’m super happy. With the Quick Tile shortcuts I can do enough tiling as needed for my workflow, there’s just two things I’m missing:

  1. spacing between tiled windows
  2. highlighted border around the currently active window

Is there any way to do this with vanilla Plasma? I’m also open to using an extension, but the only relevant extensions I can find add an entirely new tiling manager, when all I want is the highlighting.

Thanks in advance!

On 6 I dunno if there’s a spacer available. For the active: https://discuss.kde.org/t/breeze-theme-coloring-menus-and-other-elements-when-checking-highlight-window-title/26845/2

As of Plasma 6.2.4 there seems to be a couple ways to do highlighting natively with the Breeze Dark theme.

In the color scheme editor, you can edit the header background:

Apparently there was an issue regarding titlebar colors that just got fixed recently? It was mentioned in a blog post last month (sorry I guess I can’t share links yet)

You can also check the “Make window titlebars accent-colored” option and then pick an accent color. This will do more than just color the titlebars though.

I’m not sure why these settings only affect the active window but it works I guess.

After that you can edit the window border size in “Window Decorations”

Regarding tile spacing, I’m not sure if there’s a way to do it with quick tiling, but with the other tiling method you can press meta + t and there should be a padding option.

It’s been discussed here before. There was never really a need for titlebar coloring if you wanted a frame highlight . There were other ways to do it. But if you want it the easy way, I suggest you take a look at Klassy.
