Is it possible to play audio through SDDM?

As a first Time Linux and Endeavour OS User, I took it upon myself to heavily modify an existing SDDM Theme so that it plays Videos in the Background while I am in the Login Screen. It looks really pretty and modern, and so far I am really happy at how it turned out, but there is one simple thing I did not get to work.

Can SDDM Play Audio while the PC is locked?

I unmuted the media players, and when testing the theme with
sddm-greeter --test-mode --theme /usr/share/sddm/themes/ALmodern
I got audio playback.

(to be fair as soon as there were multiple monitors involved, the audio duplicated. [Lookin for help here :stuck_out_tongue: ] )

but whenever I restart the PC, there is no sound at all. why is that?

I have played with video playing SDDM themes and it is pretty neat - though in my case I don’t actually want to play audio on the login screen, so it didn’t bother me.

The greeter test is using your logged in session audio configuration, but running under actual SDDM that isn’t set up - likely pipewire isn’t even running.
