Is there a non-US-based donation method other than bank transfer?

Hi all,

I am all-in for digital sovereignty and I think KDE amongst other things is a very important part of how many people, companies and governments will be able to achieve some level of this.

I want to donate to KDE since it has been an integral part of my life’s dependencies for a few years now, and even more on-and-off in the past.

I was astounded by the lack of availability of “modern” payment options for donations. I will have to donate using the “legacy” bank transfer method because I just can’t live with sending the money to any of the “modern” payment processors. It feels wrong to support a German non-profit by shoving processing fees down the throat of a US-based company (PayPal, Stripe, Donorbox, … all of them are). Even more wrong if I consider the very motivation for my donation, which is indirectly for others to be able to break free of the stranglehold the US has on the whole world in this industry.

Are there any plans to support some modern payment processors which aren’t US-based? I am a software developer and I regularly work with some of them. They even have great plans for NPOs.

I’m not sure if the relevant people will find this here. It might make sense to ask the KDE e.V. about it.

I expect interest in adding more donation methods depends mostly on how many people are able to use them, and how easy they are to add.

I occasionally mail a check to the address in Virginia… about as legacy as it gets.

For a truly wild, out of the box method, there’s an idea:

Wikedpix is able to process American Express, Mastercard and Visa payments - unlike the original website - so if you can’t manage a BTC /BCH/ETH (no Paypal available) then you can visit the above website and ‘buy’ a picture.
