I have stuff in a track that I don’t want to have snapping enabled for but I don’t want to disable it globally. It is very annoying to have to consantly fight those snaps to get elements where I want.
For example, I have 10 sounds in quick succession in a track and a guide in the timeline. I want to snap an element to the guide, but instead it keeps trying to stick to the sounds.
AFAIK there is no way to enable or disable snapping for certain objects. In your case you may want to disable snap for the said alignment, and once done switch it back on. You can assign a keyboard shortcut to it for easy access. Or you zoom in as much as possible to space the different object further apart for the snap mechanics …
You can also hold down shift to disable snapping for a single mouse action - but I wasn’t sure if that would be much help if you still want it to snap to a guide. zooming in sufficiently to space them is all I know that might help that too.
