It seems the same questions are being asked on many different distro forums. Also this forum and others like Stack Exchange and Linux.org are flooded with the same types of questions. Is there not one place for everyone to come together?
There is no official forum that I am aware of. There is a subbreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/wayland/
Not sure if there are any wayland developers there though.
Not sure why you would want a single forum? Questions about KDE and Gnome are also spread everywhere.
As Wayland is a protocol, not a server sort of thing (like X11 is), there really won’t be a use case for a user-type support forum. The Wayland implementation is done at the window manager level --Kwin for Plasma users — so, support discussion really happens at a Desktop Environment or Window Manager specific venue.
How Gnome or Hyprland implement the Wayland protocol will be different from how Kwin does, so an issue in one, or its solution, won’t be the same.
This assumes I actually am understanding things correctly, which might not be the case.
Agreed - a Wayland forum, so to speak, would really only have as its purpose discussion among the base protocol developers, and perhaps idea interchange between those folks and developers of Wayland implementations as you mentioned.
If that doesn’t exist (or only exists in the more formalized manner of GitHub/Lab issues/pull requests), that does intuitively seem like it would be helpful. However, I don’t think it would serve the purpose that OP looked to be referring to of a consolidated end user Q&A forum.
