Is there an Amarok Spotify Plug-In?

Hi - I am running Amarok 2.9 on Ubuntu 18.04 on an older iMac. I have all of my local music on this machine, and the machine attached to my HiFi.

Recently, I decided to investigate whether playing my Spotify playlists as well would be possible. The Spotify client could not be installed, as it is not available for 18.04 (the last Ubuntu release that runs on my machine).

I therefore tried to find a Spotify plugin for Amarok, but could not find one. Is my assumption correct that it does not exist (yet)?

Yes, the assumption is correct.

(There’s a 13-year old related feature request at 263372 – Spotify support in Amarok, but I’m not sure if the contents are still relevant & what kind of Spotify plugins would be possible nowadays.)

Thank you so much for your answer. Then I will stop searching and look for a different solution. Too bad - had Amarok included Spotify, it would be 100% perfect. I still love the app and will continue using it - but will now need a second app for Spotify music - I would have preferred to need only one.
