Is there currently a problem with Neon using Wayland?

I typically use Neon with X11 as I have a Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 graphic card and have had issues using the Nvidia 550 driver with Wayland.

I occassionally switch back to Wayland for testing purposes and did so today. I logged out of X11 and selected Wayland from the memu. The system crashed and I was left with a blank screen. I did a hard re-boot and tried again - with the same results.

The system logs showed ‘org_kde_powerdevil’ errors at the time of starting the kde plasma with wayland

Hi - there was a thread a little while back where some Neon users who have NVIDIA cards and were using Wayland got black screens after logging in, just like you described. The specific post in that topic linked here seemed to help many of those folks: CRITICAL: Black screen in Wayland after recent update - #6 by prasadmurthy

In the circumstances I think I will stick to X11 for now.
