Is this KRunner/Kickoff behavior intended?

I don’t know whether to make a bug report or not, as I don’t know if this is intended behavior?

When searching for say “Visual Studio Code”:

“v” will show VS Code,

“vs” will show nothing,

and “vsc” will show VS Code again.

Why do two letter searches only match applications that start with those two letters, but one or any other amount of character searches properly search for titles and descriptions?

Also, why does “ste” put “System Settings” over “Steam”?

There are probably multiple reports on things like this, but I didn’t look.

Okay, good to know other people have experienced this (specifically with Steam and System Settings too :joy:). But is there any way to enable pattern searching for < 3 letter searches? I do know fuzzy searching is getting added in 6.5 (which I absolutely DO think should be an option!).

The originally described issue is https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=490972, which will be fixed as of Plasma 6.5.
