Hi all,
I’ve run into a problem related to replicated windows using the “On all desktops” pin across multiple virtual desktops in a multi-monitor setup.
TL;DR: The “Quick Tile Window to ” feature (Meta + Arrow key) doesn’t work correctly for windows pinned to all desktops when using multiple monitors and virtual desktops.
After updating my Fedora system, I noticed a large KDE Plasma 6.4 update. Everything seems fine in general, but my window arrangement behavior no longer works as it used to.
My Setup:
- 3 monitors
- The center monitor always shows a unique window per virtual desktop.
- The side monitors are configured to show the same windows on all virtual desktops (using the “On all desktops” option).
Previously, when I repositioned or tiled a window using Meta + Arrow keys, those window positions would stay consistent across all desktops. Now, that’s no longer the case.
Steps:
- I log into my system.
- On one virtual desktop, I arrange my windows using Meta + Arrow (Quick Tile).
- Then I open Grid View (Meta + G), right-click the windows, and set them to appear on all desktops.
Expected behavior:
The window layout should remain exactly the same across all desktops.
Actual behavior:
In Grid View, everything looks fine, but when I switch between virtual desktops, the windows on the side monitors become slightly misaligned or resized.
Interestingly, if I manually align and resize the windows before replicating them across desktops, everything works as expected.
So it seems like there’s a regression or bug where Quick Tiling doesn’t correctly propagate to replicated windows across desktops in Plasma 6.4.
Anyone else seeing this behavior?
Thanks in advance!
