Issue with activity/desktop switching - auto-switches back to previous activity on click

Hi, I have an issue with virtual desktop and activity switching on kde plasma (plasma version 6.3.5, kde frameworks 6.14.0, qt 6.9.1).

Say I am on Activity 1, Desktop 2. I switch to Activity 2, where I’m landing on Desktop 1 (because that’s the desktop I was on last time I was on Activity 2). After the switch, if I click anywhere on the screen, I’m being switched back to Activity 1, Desktop 2 (aka, where I was before the activity switch). Now, if I go to Activity 2 again, I can see that I was moved to the same desktop as Activity 1, so in the end I’m on Activity 2 Desktop 2.
It’s as if something somehow was confused by the fact that I landed on a different virtual desktop in the destination Activity, and decided to bring me back to the source Activity on the destination Desktop.

So, to sum up, the issue is this:

  • sometimes, for some reason, after switching activities I am being switched back as soon as I click anywhere on the screen.
  • Whenever that happens, if I switch again to the activity I wanted to go to in the first place, the virtual desktop was also switched to that of the source activity.

I made a video of this to try and make it clearer but unfortunately I cannot link anything in my post. Hopefully the issue is still understandable as is.

Hi! I’m not a virtual desktop or activities user personally, but it sounds like you might be experiencing one or more of the following issues reported in the KDE Bugtracking System:

For what it’s worth, you can add yourself to the CC list in Bugzilla to get email notifications whenever new comments are added, or the status is changed on those issues. Making sure the “Add me to CC list” option is checked, then choosing “Save Changes”, will add you:
