So some of these might be bugs/feature requests, but I just wanted to share some of the problems that I experience using Multiple Monitors in KDE Plasma (Wayland):
- UI/UX Issue: KDE Plasma has the option, either in the system tray, or via a keyboard shortcut that I can never remember, to quickly change the layout. This feature is designed for laptop use-cases, but in a desktop it’s a bit confusing what “laptop” screen is at first. I realize that the laptop screen is the “default” but it’s still very confusing nomenclature. This probably belongs on bugs.kde.org, however.
- When I need to rearrange my screens via the settings app, clicking Identify shows the model name of the monitor. This is probably the most ideal in most cases, but at work, for example, I have 3 monitors that are the same model; so it is very confusing to figure out which monitor goes where.
- Is there a way to configure monitors in SDDM on login?
- When I start typing my password into the login screen, it choses a random screen to focus on. If another monitor comes on later, it switches to that monitor and so my password is partially typed into the login box on one screen and partially typed into the login box of the other monitor. I quite like the UX for the way that GDM handles multi-monitor login. Windows multi-monitor login is worse, so I definitely don’t advocate copying their UX.
